Monk9 Tech is an Indian semiconductor startup developing the country's first commercial, open-access fabrication facility focused on mature process nodes (130-350 nm) using 6-inch wafers for microcontrollers (MCUs), analog/mixed-signal ICs, and power-management devices. Alongside its fabrication initiative ("Fab 2.0"), the company offers ChipMonk, a homegrown EDA platform that integrates open-source design flows, enabling startups, MSMEs, and academic institutions to move from RTL to GDSII in weeks rather than months at significantly lower cost. The fab is being positioned to address domestic demand across the automotive, industrial, IoT, defence, and consumer electronics markets, with capacity intended to support both rapid prototyping and scalable production.
